Grandparentage Testing

If the alleged father is deceased or missing but his parents are available for DNA testing, these grandparents can be tested together with the child to determine if they have a biological relationship. This test is invaluable for many people because they may not realize they still have a viable DNA testing option despite extraordinary circumstances. In a standard paternal grandparentage test, a child, the mother, and both alleged paternal grandparents are tested.

Maternal grandparentage tests may also be used to determine family relationships in situations where an alleged mother is not available for testing. In a standard maternal grandparentage test, a child, the father, and both alleged maternal grandparents are tested.

If the child’s mother is unavailable or would prefer not to participate in the test, we can perform a motherless grandparentage test. This testing process is more complex and will take approximately five (5) working days longer than if the mother participates.
