Generally, paternity tests use samples from a standard trio of individuals (mother, child, and alleged father); however, the mother may be unavailable or prefers not to participate in the paternity test. We do not require, though we prefer, the mother to take part in the paternity test. The results of a paternity test without the mother’s participation will be just as conclusive as if she had participated.
